How to manage competing business cases for a release? The first step is making sure that you have well defined business cases. I suggest the PURSUIT practice for doing this (see my other posts). In picking a release North star, there are bound to be competing cases with different risk profiles, cost and impact. Conduct a PURSUIT exercise for each and play them back to team members and stakeholders. At the end, pick a winner together with your stakeholders, ensuring the right balance of competing needs.
